Introduction

This website reveals various records on recently extinct, missing, and rediscovered breeds from all over the world. These breeds have largely been forgotten, and research has been indifferent to the fact that these breeds are necessary for human beings to recall or support. Fortunately, very scarce records of such breeds are available to remind us that we should recall the presence of these lost breeds. It has become an important task to revive the knowledge of them through this website. However, rediscovering previously unrevealed records is challenging and requires spending considerable time conducting research on each breed. By means of finding and maintaining the considerably limited records for each breed, there is still a chance to learn more about them, through not only vintage books and articles, but also by visiting museums and private collections. 

We hope that by exposing information here, it may lead to rediscovering these breeds as living populations somewhere else. Recalling forgotten breeds will help them to become better known and receive more attention from the public and that they can be supportively conserved and maintained longer by applying for agricultural and livestock heritage conservation programs. In this way, the breeds’ unique traits and characteristics will be passed on to the next generation to protect their valuable presence, and this information can be told as history.
